SUMMARY:Leena Juvonen
DESCRIPTION:Landslide \nLeena Juvonen is Finnish ceramic artist who lives in Helsinki. She hand builds sculptural forms and has fired them with wood for past decade. In wood firing she tends to work with plain forms and concentrates on surfaces\, where wood ash produces various effects on unglazed surfaces. This exhibition consists of both new works and production during ten years as a woodfirer. In 2008 Juvonen started to work with wood-kiln after taking part in artist residencies\, first in China and then in Denmark. After that she built a Train kiln at her studio in Helsinki. \nPressbild: klicka för högupplöst version\nThe exhibition shows sculptures and wall pieces\, which are combined with the ceramic prints smelting to the shades of flying ash. The emotions about changes in time are her themes inspired by nature. The images printed by iron oxide show signs of human impact on their environment. New works are like earthy soil samples and drills about rock formations caused by natural forces. The firing process is an essential part of her work\, which is intensive presence in changing conditions when the heat rises over 1300 degrees.
